We're looking for a friendly and responsible Tour Guide to join our team and contribute to our mission of spreading the love of craft beer in Minnesota.

Position Overview

If you love beer, meeting new people from all over the world, and leading unforgettable experiences around the Twin Cities, this might be your jam.

As a Bitter Minnesota Brewery Tour Guide, you will be responsible for leading tours and providing an engaging and informative experience to visitors at Minnesota’s best craft breweries. Your role will involve taking our guests to one or more breweries on their tour, helping folks select beers at each stop, and helping folks taste the best craft beers Minnesota has to offer. You will have the opportunity to interact with beer enthusiasts, answer their questions, and ensure their experience is enjoyable and memorable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and informative experience to tour guests, serving as their guide throughout the journey from brewery to brewery.
  • Conduct beer tastings, guiding guests through a selection of craft beers. Explain the brewing techniques used for each beer, describe their flavor profiles, and offer food pairing suggestions.
  • Share knowledge about various beer styles, ingredients, brewing equipment, and the significance of different brewing methods. Educate guests about the characteristics, flavors, and aromas of craft beers.
  • Engage guests by sharing interesting anecdotes and stories related to the brewery, its founders, and the brewing industry. Foster an enjoyable and interactive atmosphere during tours.
  • Ensure the safety of visitors during tours, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and brewery regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by attending to guest inquiries, offering recommendations, and ensuring a positive experience throughout the tour. Address any complaints or issues professionally and promptly.
  • Act as an ambassador for the brewery we visit by promoting their brand, merchandise, and upcoming events. Encourage visitors to share their experiences on social media platforms and leave reviews.

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older with high school diploma or GED
  • A passion for craft beer and familiarity with different breweries, beer styles, and brewing processes is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to adhere to schedules and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong public speaking abilities and the confidence to lead tours and deliver presentations.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to handle challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
  • Prior experience in hospitality, tourism, or brewery-related roles is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Schedule

The Brewery Tour Guide position is a part-time gig. The hours are flexible, and we’ll work with you to get as many or as little hours as you need at different times of the year. Here is what you can expect:

  • Most Bitter tours are about 3 hours long
  • The duration can range from 3 to 5+ hours
  • You can expect about 4 to 14+ hours per week
  • This role is a great side hustle for folks looking for weekends only, evenings only, or something as random as every other Tuesday.

Physical Demands

  • Required to climb steps / stairs
  • Occasionally carry up to 50 pounds of food, water, supplies, fireworks
